Wittmann, AZ (1/20/2020) – Pro Motorsports driver Matt Hancock put in an epic drive to finish third in the SXS Pro Stock event during the WORCS season opener at Buffalo Bill’s Resort and Casino in Primm, NV. Hancock fought mechanic bugs in a brand-new Polaris RZR XP Pro to finish 14th in the Pro Production event.
Hancock had trouble at the start of the Pro Stock race and found himself last on the first lap. Driving a single seat Polaris RZR RS1, Hancock immediately started picking off cars. On the final lap, he took third when the car in front of him flipped over and he went on to score the final spot on the podium.
“I got a really bad start, but I felt really good,” said Hancock. “I started passing people when I could. At the end, Shelby had an issue and went over, so I got past her. It’s going to be a really long year, so every point matters. We’ll move on and go to the next race.”
In the Pro Production race, Hancock was working out the bugs in his new car but came away enthusiastic about the rest of the season. Hancock has always been a consistent competitor, but this year he’s ready to step it up a notch.
“I’m doing more with the cars this year and I built a new XP Pro for the Production class,” said Hancock. “We have some bugs to work out there and I know I can run up front. I hope to push a little harder this year. Consistency does pay off but I’m hoping for more podiums and wins this year.”
One key to that consistency has been his Elka Suspension. Tuned by Roll Design, the Elkas are run by more frontrunners than any other suspension package. Hancock helped develop the SXS shock package and continues to work diligently to make them even more competitive.
“With Elka suspension the shocks are great,” said Hancock. “Doug Roll with Roll Design is making these shocks work better than anything else out there. We’re making strides and it shows by how many cars on Elkas are up front.”
Hancock will return to WORCS competition when the series heads to Honolulu Hills Raceway in Taft, CA February 28-March 1.
