Yokley Racing Wins the Pro SxS Championship in the Mid West

Rosedale, IN (September 28, 2020) Polaris RZR/Yokley Racing Driver, John Barnes came to the finish line in pieces this past Saturday. He was highly motivated to finish even though the wheels were coming off. With his right rear wheel busted in half, the tire shredded, the rear end hanging on by a thread and much of his plastic missing, Barnes pulled through the finish in second. The finish line of this race meant a championship.

It was an event that the spectators loved. Barnes started the day in 6th place off the start. It was quite dusty as he picked his way through. Well past the midway point, he finally caught the leader and was planning a pass. All of the sudden Barnes heard a “boom”. Barnes commented, “I heard some kind of explosion as my mind rushed to wonder what had happened. I lost control and my front right clipped a tree and knocked all the fenders and the door off my right side.” The “boom” was his right rear wheel breaking in half and his tire going to pieces.
Barnes was not done. He picked up where he left off and drove the Pro XP as hard as he could as pieces of the tire were melting off the wheel, fenders dangling in the wind, and Tire Balls flying into the air like they were shot out of a cannon. He was in second. Barnes added, “I could hear third place in the distance, and I was doing everything in my power not to leave a line available to be passed in.” That strategy held true as Barnes pushed through to the finish with a second place podium finish and winning the Pro SxS championship.
It was a day to remember as the fans and announcers were all excited and cheering as the race ended. Never can the team remember such a hard fought finish with a RZR and a driver that would not give up.
